We’re Paul and Ceri, the people behind The Phillips Route.
We’re a couple who love exploring new places, whether that’s discovering a hidden restaurant on a city break, watching the sunset from a cruise ship deck, or finding a quiet corner of the world that isn’t in the guidebooks.
Over the years we’ve shared a love of travel and have been fortunate enough to visit some incredible destinations together. We both love cruising and have developed a particular soft spot for Lanzarote, a destination we find ourselves returning to time and time again. Every trip has given us new experiences, great memories, and plenty of stories to tell.
The Phillips Route was created as a place to share those experiences, inspire others to explore, and help travellers discover destinations, cruises, hotels and holidays they’ll genuinely enjoy.
Why We Started The Phillips Route
Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn.
After being made redundant, Paul found himself with the opportunity to step back and think about what came next. Rather than seeing it as the end of one chapter, we chose to see it as the beginning of another.
Travel had always been something we enjoyed planning, researching and talking about, so creating The Phillips Route felt like a natural fit. It gave us the chance to build something together around a shared passion while helping others find inspiration for their own adventures.
More than anything, this website is about creating something meaningful, something that’s genuinely ours.
Meet Paul
Paul has a particular passion for cruising and the unique experience it offers. From waking up in a new port to enjoying life onboard, he loves the balance of adventure, relaxation and discovery that cruising provides.
More than anything, Paul believes travel is about creating memories and experiences that stay with you long after you’ve returned home. Whether it’s exploring a new destination, enjoying time at sea, or revisiting a favourite place, it’s those moments that make every trip special.
Meet Ceri
Alongside helping to build The Phillips Route, Ceri works as an Intelligence Analyst.
Research, organisation and attention to detail are part of everyday life, and those same skills naturally carry over into travel planning. From comparing destinations and building itineraries to uncovering lesser known attractions, she’s often the person making sure every detail has been considered.
She’s also someone who can happily spend hours researching destinations, comparing hotels and planning future trips. If there’s a cruise itinerary, a holiday deal or a destination guide to read, chances are Ceri has already found it.
Ceri believes great travel isn’t always about going somewhere completely new. Sometimes it’s about discovering something different in a place you already love.
Why Travel Matters To Us
Travel gives us something to look forward to, something to learn from, and memories that stay with us for years.
While famous landmarks and beautiful hotels are always enjoyable, many of our favourite moments have been the unexpected ones: a quiet marina at sunset, a family-run restaurant tucked away from the crowds, or a beach we almost didn’t visit.
Those are the experiences we love most, and they’re the ones we hope to help others discover too.
